John Isaiah Pepion is offering giclée prints of his signature Plains Indian Graphic Art.
“Here Come the Blackfeet” depicts a powerful war party of Blackfeet warriors, renowned for their skill in battle and mastery of horsemanship. Their horses are painted with symbols such as lightning bolts to bring speed and strength, with feathers and plumes tied into their manes and tails. The warriors wear straight-up warbonnets, split-horn and wolf headdresses, and other feathered regalia. Their faces are marked with both tribal and personal paint, each design carrying its own meaning. To other tribes, the sight of this fierce and unified group would have inspired awe and alarm, prompting the cry: ‘Here come the Blackfeet!’
Within his artwork John uses ink and color pencil on antique documents. This was done on an antique Montana map with ink, color pencil, and acrylic paint.
